Fragrant Orchid (Gymnadenia conopsea), ssp. borealis
Three subspecies of Fragrant Orchid are recognized in the British Isles. The subspecies borealis, shown here, is the one most commonly encountered in Scotland; the "wings" (lateral sepals) of the flowers are broader, relative to their length, than in the other two subspecies.
