This house, four miles out of Monaghan town, was built in 1869 by James Arthur Mayne, born Dublin 1819. James, a solicitor, came from a family of Dublin lawyers, the Sinclair Maynes, established in the city by his grandfather. In Jamesí generation, his two brothers and three cousins were all lawyers.
