St Benedict's church - remains of north aisle arcading
North nave wall, viewed from within the church. St Benedict's church > LinkExternal link - LinkExternal link is located close by the River Bure and has its own staithe > LinkExternal link. The building dates from the 13th century, with the tower added in the 14th century, but was extensively restored in Victorian times. The narrow priest's door > LinkExternal link has survived but the north aisle, the former arcades of which can still be seen outlined in the wall (seen here); see also > LinkExternal link was demolished in the 18th century. Some of the benches have poppyheads and carved figures > LinkExternal link - LinkExternal link. The octagonal font > LinkExternal link dates from the 14th century. The church is open every day.
