Llyn Llyffant - the highest lake in Wales
Llyn Llyffant - the highest lake in Wales
This lake lies to the lee of the summit of Carnedd Llywelyn. Until fairly recently, when some bright spark decided to clear aircraft wreckage from the Snowdonia National Park, the wheel of the English Electric Canberra WK129, which crashed into the summit in December 1957, rested in the water. The boggy area around the lake can be treacherous.
Its name translates into English as "frog lake" and I have often seen frog spawn on its surface.
