Across moorland towards Glen Roy & the "parallel roads"
The Parallel Roads of Glen Roy represent the "beaches" of a series of ice-dammed proglacial lake shorelines produced during the cold climate of some 11,000 years ago.
These lakes - created by damming of the valleys by glaciers - created beaches which can be seen as horizontal lines - 2 directly ahead and faintly on both sides, The coll (belach in Gaelic) pictured is thought to be the overflow governing the height of one such glacial lake.
