Type FW3/22 pillbox
Hexagonal concrete pillbox built into the seawall. Would have guarded the former ferry crossing. During WW2 the seawall would have been lower here and troops would have been able to fire across the top of the seawall to any attack approaching along the River Crouch. Entrance to the pillbox is bricked up.
