The cliffs at Clogher are Silurian in age (400+Ma) and include volcanic material indicating that all those millennia ago the area was subject to volcanic activity. The cliffs here are rapidly eroding; the grassy mound in the foreground once served as a barrier to prevent livestock falling down the cliffs. However, it no longer functions as such and the farmer has laid down boulders as a substitute. In the distance is Clogher Head.
