To enable the River (Don) Bank to be 'shored up', and therefore the A6102 road at the top re-opened, part of the river has been 'dammed' and a 'land shelf' built. This allows the 'pile driver' (in the picture) and other tracked vehicles to gain access to make the necessary repairs.
