St.Peter's church is now redundant, overgrown and deteriorating. The report of the Lincoln Diocesan Architectural Society for 1867 described the old church as "miserable in character", whereupon the Rector, The Rev. Robert William Otter (rector from 1850 until 4 May 1875, 6 months before his death), provided the money for the new church, by the notable Nottingham architect, Thomas Chambers Hine 1867-8
