Transit Sheds (former Fish Market), Albert Dock
Transit Sheds (former Fish Market), Albert Dock
The sheds D,E,F and G facing onto the eastern end Albert Dock (this is G Shed) started life as transit sheds in the late 1950's, then were converted in 1970's into fish landing and auction sheds, and have now reverted to their original role. The beam running above the door height originally supported the 'short leg' of semi-portal cranes, the longer leg being on a rail just behind the quay edge. Cargo is now handles by mobile cranes.
