Ladies Wood Nature Reserve
The trees of Ladies Wood seen from the East Peeke public right of way above the Cheston to Pennaton Lane. Ladies Wood is an Ancient Woodland, and was the first Nature Reserve acquired by Devon Wildlife Trust in 1961 - it was given by an eminent local naturalist, Henry Hurrell MBE. It's a mixed broadleaf woodland, with a circular public access path, and in spring has a magical carpet of bluebells. The decaying buildings were once stables and kennels.
