Coastguard lookout, lighthouse and more mysterious military concrete, Orford Ness
The function of these blocks of concrete is not clear, like many of the other structures littering Orford Ness. The OS map shows a mast of some kind here. The building behind is a mid 19th century HM Coastguard Watch House. The tin roofed building to the left is an accommodation module from 1919. The building was last occupied as a Coastguard Watch House in 1951. in the 1950s it was used by the Royal Navy before being abandoned in the early 1960s.
