Birthplace of John McDouall Stuart (1815-1866)
His birthplace is now a small museum. A Civil Engineer, he went to Australia in 1838 and spent 2 years as surveyor on Captain Sturt's expeditions. He then led 6 surveying expeditions discovering the centre of the land and in 1863 was the first person to cross the continent S to N & to return. He is buried in Kensal Green cemetery, London.
