Fourstones Lime Kilns
Fourstones Lime Kilns
These are the remains of a 19th century lime kiln. This large example contains at least four separate lime kilns. Limestone was built in kilns such as this to produce lime, which was used to make cement or improve soil quality. What a shame there is so much rubbish in front of this lime kiln. This is an important piece of industrial heritage and should be respected as much as more high profile ancient monuments.
