Beeches and holly in Mark Ash Wood, New Forest
Beeches and holly in Mark Ash Wood, New Forest
Mark Ash is part of the "Ancient and Ornamental" woodland alongside the Bolderwood Arboretum Ornamental Drive. There are many old pollarded beeches, many dead and decaying, with an understorey of holly. There is little natural regeneration and the wood is very open and easy to walk through.
