Lobster, teapot & two teddies
Suspended beneath SE3456 : The Dropping Well in Knaresborough a lobster, two little teddy bears and a teapot are gradually being petrified. The water which drips constantly over them has a very high concentration of dissolved Calcium Carbonate - which as crystals forms the mineral Calcite. The more porous the object suspended the more quickly it will solidify - so the teddies for example will only take maybe three months while the teapot will probably take twice as long.
