Site of the first Dry Dock in Scotland
Site of the first Dry Dock in Scotland
The dry dock was first built around 1720. The grassed area shows where it has been filled in and the kerbs around the grass indicates the edge of the dock. The recessed area up to the first floor level in the building beyond was designed to accommodate the bowsprits of sailing ships.
