Ruins of Kep, Roseberry Mine Incline
Ruins of Kep, Roseberry Mine Incline
This "Kep" is situated at the top of the inclined tramway down which ironstone from the Roseberry Mine was carried to the Northern Eastern Railway. The incline acted on a self acting principle whereby a rake of six loaded two ton tubs would be slowly winched down the incline at the same time pulling up empty ones. The up branch of the system ran across the top of the kep and down to the sidings. This prevented them from rolling back down again once they ran over the lip of the kep.
