Compton Bridge
Compton disused railway bridge gets new brick work on top and new concrete slabs on the tops of the sloping walls. Apparently the old ones had become loose and were a danger as they could fall. Interestingly two types of concrete slabs have been used. On the Compton village side of the bridge smart smooth faced slabs have been used. On the other side rough faced cheap looking slabs have been used. Is this penny pinching ?. Recently the council considered demolishing the bridge as it was a cheaper option than maintaining the bridge but decided to keep it after local objections.
