Dismantled railway to Quainton Road 2
Dismantled railway to Quainton Road 2
This is the trackbed of the Aylesbury & Buckingham Railway built in the 1860s and which ran from Aylesbury to Verney Junction, see SP7319 : Dismantled railway to Quainton Road 1.

Here looking south-east, the railway ran on an embankment through farmland. Ahead the line of the railway slowly curves to the left so as to join about 400m away, what was then the Great Central Railway that ran between Sheffield, Nottingham and London Marylebone, but which is now a single track line in infrequent use, see SP7220 : Railway line near Doddershall House. This line can just be seen in the gap in the trees to the right where there is a simple crossing.

The next image in this sequence is SP7319 : Dismantled railway to Quainton Road 3.
