Barrow House Hotel 1960
This is a picture of Barrow House Hotel taken in 1960 before it became a Youth Hostel. The road behind the grounds was a "private" road leading from Ashness Gate to Watendlath via the famous Ashness Bridge. The entrance to the road was at that time gated where a man collected the entrance fee. There were often red squirrels on the gate and on his arm as he used to feed them nuts.
