Teignmouth: Bitton House

Pellew worked his way up in the Royal Navy as a frigate captain, later commanding squadrons in the Far East and the Mediterranean. He has been described by one authority as fearless, unorthodox, acquisitive and courageous [Richard Woodman, The Sea Warriors, Constable 2001]
