Monument to Captain Jepersen's Dog
The photograph shows the brick chimney of the Bunavoneadar whaling station established in 1904 by Norwegian interests. Lord Leverhulme had it in the early 1920s after which it was mothballed until 1950 when it operated for approximately three years. The brick chimney is listed. Of further interest is the granite monument in the foreground erected in memory of Captain Jepersen's dog with the not particularly imaginative name of 'Hund'.
