SP9310 : The Ridgeway off The Twist
near to Wigginton, Hertfordshire, Great Britain

The Ridgeway off The Twist
"The Twist" is an appropriately named lane that runs up the escarpment of the Chilterns from Tring up to Wiggington and as the name suggests it features a quite dramatic bend. Heading up the hill, once the twisty bit is over the gradient of the hill lessens and at this point The Ridgeway (an ancient path much photographed on this website) crosses the lane. This crossing is somewhat staggered (by about 30m). This view here is looking northeastwards as it borders fields with attractive views. Walking in this direction you will soon cross the rather splendid SP9411 : Footbridge over the A41 as you head towards the end of The Ridgeway at Ivinghoe Beacon (see SP9616 : Ivinghoe Beacon in autumnal evening sunshine).
