A traditional country Inn on the A6070 which has expanded to include a restaurant, function room and self catering cottages. The main entrance to Tewitfield Marina is through the Inn's car park. If you can put up with the constant hum of motorway traffic from the adjacent M6 I'm sure it would be a lovely place to stay. Not for me though!text/html2019-07-15T16:42:04+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/1109Kate Jewell54.154716 -2.735270SD5273 : Kellet Lane, Tewitfield

The main entrance to Gatelands Caravan Park is on the right and the Longlands Inn is on the far left. In the far centre is the junction with the A6070.text/html2019-07-15T16:31:26+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/1109Kate Jewell54.154714 -2.735744SD5273 : Tewitfield Marina

On the corner of Kirkgate Lane and Kellet Lane. Viewpoint is on Tewitfield Old Turnpike Bridge, number 138 on the Lancaster Canal.
Tewitfield Methodist Chapel opened as a recognised place of worship sometime around 1886 although it could have been used as a Wesleyan meeting house some time before that. The chapel is thought to have originally been an alehouse used by the canal navvies who built the Lancaster Canal in the 1790s. The canal was opened in 1797 bringing much work to the area at about the same time as Methodism grew in popularity. It must be assumed that as the navvies departed the Methodists took the building over. It is within easy walking distance of Priest Hutton via Kirkgate Lane, and Borwick via the canal towpath. Tewitfield is a hamlet near Carnforth and consists mainly of farms, the Twitfield Marina, a caravan park and the Longlands Inn. Tewit is a dialect name for the lapwing.text/html2019-07-15T15:44:49+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/1109Kate Jewell54.154297 -2.736273SD5273 : The Lancaster Canal at Tewitfield Marina

The end of the walk! Kirkgate Lane meets Kellet Lane by the Tewitfield Methodist Chapel.text/html2019-07-15T15:08:12+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/1109Kate Jewell54.154530 -2.734868SD5273 : A walk along Kirkgate Lane (27)

There is a rudimentary stile underneath these trees on Kirkgate Lane leading to the Gatelands Caravan Park. This saves walking a few 100 metres down Kellet Lane to get to the Lancaster Canal.text/html2019-07-15T15:02:56+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/1109Kate Jewell54.153946 -2.734812SD5273 : A walk along Kirkgate Lane (26)

As Kirkgate Lane reaches Kellet Lane it runs alongside the Lancaster Canal. The tow path is on the far side. Some enterprising youngster, maybe from the caravan park on the other side of Kirkgate Lane, has rigged up rope swing.text/html2019-07-15T14:55:25+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/1109Kate Jewell54.154113 -2.734019SD5273 : A walk along Kirkgate Lane (25)

This is the water meadow next to the Lancaster Canal. The embankment can be clearly seen. The tow path is on the opposite side of the canal.
