I was pointed towards Geograph in the early stages of the project, and contributed quite a few of the first geographs to be recorded, mainly in the Reading area but by raiding my photographic archive I managed to fill in squares in Wirral, Bristol and West London together with a handful of others.

In those days I used a Nikon FG film camera for my photography, and I don't drive. I got a bit put off by people with cars and digital cameras running round the countryside bagging first geographs, and dropped out for a while. Now that coverage is much greater, I have returned with the aim of making a detailed study of squares, showing all their facets where possible.

I still use the Nikon for my 'serious' photographic work, but now I carry a Nikon Coolpix L3 (the 'Nikoff'!) around with me whereever I go, and this has made my return to geographing much easier.
