This picture was taken along with many other pictures of Strathclyde Fire and Rescue teams for the purpose of inclusion in the book 'Strathclyde Fire and Rescue: The Final Chapter'. The book was presented to all SF & R personnel as a commemoration of the great service provided by one of the largest fire brigades in Europe from its inception, through its evolution and on to its amalgamation into the Scottish Fire Service on April 1st 2013.
The firefighters in the Carradale Crew are all volunteers and I was happy to count myself as a recipient of the above mentioned book being the firefighter on the far right. Sadly, this picture was not the one used in the book, a picture from August 2011 was used instead which showed the Carradale volunteers with the then Firemaster of SF & R Brian Sweeney and other dignitaries during a visit.

I spotted this wreckage last June from a boat and decided to have a closer look at some point. This is a winch and I could see from a brass label that it was manufactured in Japan, sadly there were no dates to be seen. Also nearby was an engine, several oil tanks and pieces of the hull/deck.
