More about me

I've been taking photographs since I was about 8 years old, and am now enjoying using a digital camera, though my older submissions were taken on slide or print film.

After parting company, rather suddenly, with the world of employment in 1995, I never found the time to look for another job. Now I'm pretty much unemployable on grounds of age, so I have stopped worrying about it. In the meantime I've been studying geology (handy for Geographing) and astronomy (not so useful) with the Open University.

I recall being told that geologists were the most dangerous drivers on the roads, because they are easily distracted by the roadside rocks. Well, I am also interested in birds, wild flowers, and butterflies, and, being a glider pilot, in interesting clouds and potentially landable fields as well as fine scenery. So maybe I should give up driving.

I submitted my first image to Geograph on 12 April 2005. The project is just the incentive I need to get me out walking and cycling, which is great.

I was born in , went to school in , and university in . My first proper job was in after which I moved to . Then I worked in for a while. is where I live now. I spend a lot of time in and .
