This slightly raised circle is some 40 feet in diameter, covered in quite different grass and lichens compared to the surrounding meadow and leaves the impression of an opening to the North East, away from the prevailing wind. It is clearly visible on google earth at http://preview.tinyurl.com/6dftecm some 600 feet north of the Codley Gate pin. I can find no other reference to it on line. Yet another of the recent heavy rain/hail storms in North Staffordshire coincided with the setting sun to create two rainbows over our neighbour's garden shed (bottom left). In the brighter of the two, even the violet inner arc is clearly seen... a spectacular accompaniment to our evening meal!text/html2011-06-03T06:59:39+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/37331?a=Hazel+HambidgeHazel Hambidge57.508266 -5.863933NG6853 : Five years (almost) and 180 degrees (exactly) from Dave Fergusson

As it says in the title, see [[312808]]. Modern holiday cottage built on site of old building in distance. (Mods will be delighted, this is my last image posted from a 5 week tour; enjoy?)text/html2011-06-03T06:54:06+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/37331?a=Hazel+HambidgeHazel Hambidge57.509083 -5.863686NG6853 : A film set

This previously derelict cottage was re-roofed and re-glazed in 1983 for the film "Ill Fares the Wind" about St Kilda. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0155756/

Recent severe erosion of the footpath on west side of Abhainn Chuaig below the road bridge has revealed these strata. I assume each white layer represents a storm that blew beach surface material inland.text/html2011-06-02T07:35:43+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/37331?a=Hazel+HambidgeHazel Hambidge57.558958 -5.838026NG7058 : Can we see ewe?

The mother sheep (Gotland breed?) is much more difficult to spot than her progeny in the rocks at Cuaig Beach. Locals state that the wool from these sheep is used at the adjacent wool spinner.text/html2011-06-02T07:29:37+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/37331?a=Hazel+HambidgeHazel Hambidge57.568468 -5.847562NG7059 : Eilean Chuaig across Ob Chuaig from Cuaig beach

Visible at middle far left in [[496564]] by RH Dengate, this shows the inland cluster of some 7 ruined cottages on the west bank of the Abhainn Chuaig below the stepping stones [[2438117]]. On the east bank, front foreground, numerous lines of boulders were piled between cleared stretches of small pebbles. I assume that the latter was where boats where hauled to safety during bad weather.
