Grade II* listed, the Blue Coat school buildings were designed by James Murray and constructed in 1856-57. They now house Holy Trinity church centre.
The columns in the left foreground are remains of the west wall of St Mary's, Coventry's first cathedral, destroyed after the Dissolution. The remains of the north west corner of the cathedral served as foundations for the school building. Before excavation the ground level to the right was several feet higher at a level with the entrance to the school (see SP3379 : Old Blue Coat school, 1974). The ruins are grade I listed.
The restored Tudor-style building in the left foreground now houses a tourist information centre and gift shop.text/html2010-07-18T03:22:27+00:00https://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/8766Brenda Kock51.069335 -1.797286SU1430 : Salisbury - Church of St Thomas Becket

Passenger service from Southsea to Ryde, Isle of Wight.
In early September 2005 I was sitting on the beach at Southsea and was able to take three pictures of the event - arrival [[1957662]] - on the turn [[1957663]] - departure.
In June 2010 a short video shows the turn and departure from the same spot but seemingly with a docking pad.

If you've not been close to the beaching and turn tail of a Hovercraft let me tell you it's quite the experience. Firstly, it's very l o u d. It's a thrill though to see it come in at a fair speed and disgorge a few passengers, turn on a dime practically and be off out into the Solent again just a minute or two later.
