More about me

I am a retired glaciologist from the British Antarctic Survey and love wild places, particularly the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. I am a member of the John Muir Trust, Gatliff Trust and National Trust for Scotland. I teach adults for the University of Cambridge about Antarctica, climate change and environmental issues. My wife contributes to geograph and my two teenage children are budding scientists with university aspirations.
My greatest delight is the coastline of the Scottish islands.

My second thrill is being at the top of Scottish hills with wide vistas in all directions.
