Everywhere seems to be going in for these little sculptures. This one guards the entrance to the business park, just East of the retail park where IKEA is sited. Not sure what it's meant to be - just a shiny sculpture.

Right on the border with grid square SJ5889 to the West, are these disused buildings. The sign warns dog owners about fouling. A large derelict house also lies nearby - otherwise, apart from the park, the area is all new housing estates.

SJ5989 : Paving in Centre of Maze, Sankey Valley Park

Just to the West of St.Helens Canal lies a hedge maze which is open to the public at most times. In the centre are this mosaic and, opposite it, a slightly chilling statue of a gaunt looking woman. You'll have to visit to see the statue, unless someone else uploads a picture, but don't forget to take a ball of string for the maze . . .

This is the view looking south from a bridge over the canal in the park. It's a popular spot for fishing, and often attracts swans. The park follows the canal a mile or so in either direction, and to the south joins the trans pennine cycle path.

You can't miss this gigantic store from the M62, but this shot was taken from the car park.
