Church of St Wilfrid, Scrooby
Distinctive features of the church are the continuous roof line of the nave and aisle, with no clerestory, and in particular the form of the tower. Unusual the transition from square tower to octagonal spire is made by chamfering the corners of the tower to form an octagonal battlemented parapet. The chamfers support crocketted pinnacles at the four corners.
The interior of the church has now particularly remarkable features, the aisle arcade being of a relatively plain design, and other decorative work being 19th century restoration. Most fittings are also 19th century, the exception being a small number of elaborately decorated bench pews, probably 16th century, known as the Brewster Pews.
The church is Listed Grade II*.
