Belville Community Garden

The garden is on the site of the Belville Street (actually Belville Drive) towerblocks which were demolished in 2013.

It is a pleasant place for a stroll, bypassing the busy Belville Street and offering great views of the Firth of Clyde and the south Highlands.

The garden's web site LinkExternal link describes the project as follows...

"Belville Community Garden Trust is a registered Scottish charity set up in 2014 by local people to bring community groups and individuals together in a deprived area of the east end of Greenock. The main activities of our organisation involve building a safer, stronger community around improving lifestyles, and health primarily through gardening, horticulture and healthy eating. We aim to break down social barriers for young and old alike and offer the chance of new learning experiences, improved community relationships, a sense of pride in the environment and improved mental and physical wellbeing."

About shared descriptions

These Shared Descriptions are common to multiple images.

For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
