St Clement's church, Worlaby
The church dates from the 11th century onwards, with the oldest part being the tower arch.
There is a western tower, nave with north and south aisles of three bays, chancel, and south porch.
The two stage tower has a low four sided spire. The tower arch is 11th century. There are three bells.
The north arcade has octagonal piers and is from the late 14th century, the capitals and bases have been restored. The south arcade dates from the late 13th century and has quatrefoil piers with 19th-century capitals and bases.
Between the nave and chancel there is a 19th-century wooden arch. Behind the organ on the south side there is an effigy of a lady from the 14th century, although this is much worn. It was originally located in the porch. The chancel also has a damaged 14th century incised slab which was relocated from the base of the tower. The east window has a three light window with a central light of stained-glass by Kempe. The Chancel was rebuilt in 1837 by John Webb.
There is a 19th century font, and also the remains of an old font, possibly Saxon, which was used as a garden tub for many years.
At the back of the church there is a fragment of Roman carving, depicting a foot.
There is a small organ, probably by Bevington, from the late 19th century.
The church was restored in 1672 and rebuilt from 1873 to 1877 by W. Scott Champion, reusing much old material.
