Colliston Castle
The castle is Category 2 Listed. See Link
It is said that the castle was built by Cardinal Beaton, who also owned Ethie Castle a few miles away. The Cardinal granted the lands of Colliston to John Guthrie and his wife Isabella Ogilvy in 1544, and the castle remained in Guthrie hands until 1684, when it was sold to one Dr Gordon. It was in the ownership of the Chaplin family for some 200 years before being bought by Major Bruce. It changed hands more than once in the 20th century. See Link
Latterly it was the home of Gordon Stuart, described in Link as a hyperpolyglot.
The castle is available through several letting agencies for holiday lets and special occasions. See Link
