Ballyquintin National Nature Reserve

The Reserve occupies a section of the extensive raised beach around Ballyquintin Point. The beach was created by isostatic uplift in the post glacial period. Often used as a text book example of isostatic features - including relict cliffs, wave cut platforms and gravel deposits - the Ballyquintin raised beach has rather surprisingly not been the subject of detailed study.
