Eastbourne Station :: Shared Description
A single track branch line from Polegate on the Brighton to Hastings line was opened by the London Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) in 1849. As the town grew into a popular seaside resort, the present station was opened in 1886.
Trains have to reverse at the station to continue their journey along the East Coastway line in both directions.
