Newport Transporter Bridge open day :: Shared Description
Occasional open days are held at the Transporter Bridge when the public are allowed to access the high level walkway.
This gives the opportunity to enjoy views over Newport and the River Usk and to get close up and familiar with the workings of this magnificent structure.
Since 1964 when two other bridges have been built across the River Usk, use of the bridge has fallen by 80%, and although it is part of the local road network it currently (June 2012) only operates for a restricted number of hours.
Details can be found at Link
There are plans to develop it as a tourist attraction and give more frequent access to the walkway.

These Shared Descriptions
are common to multiple images. For example, you can create a generic description for an object shown in a photo, and reuse the description on all photos of the object. All descriptions are public and shared between contributors, i.e. you can reuse a description created by others, just as they can use yours.
