Harrison and Dunn :: Shared Description

Harrison and Dunn are a local hardware store, with branches in Stamford and Bourne.

The company had its roots in the older Duncombe & company where Mr Dunn started as an apprentice in 1924. Forming a partnership with Harrison in 1930, the pair put a mobile shop on the road delivering parrafin and hardware to the isolated villages of South Kesteven, and moving into the Bourne shop around the same time. In the 1970s they moved from Ironmonger street in Stamford to the present premises, which had previously been a men's clothing store, and the Bourne shop relocated in 2015. The firm goes from strength to strength and is still run by two generations of the Dunn family, although the original founder had to retire in 2004, an 80 year career in the Fork Handles business.
