Shared description
St Nicholas' church, Barkston
Dates from 12th Century onwards. The west tower is 13th C. with 14th C gargoyles, and an octagonal crocketted spire.
3 Bay south arcade with round pillars and a 13th C. tomb recess in the south aisle which has a chapel at the east end. There is a south porch with side benches and a 14th C. door. The north door is blocked with two 14th C. upright stone effigies of a priest and layman.
The chancel was heavily restored in the 19th Century.
15th C. chalice shaped font.
The organ is a 1872 Forster & Andrews.
