Looking Down on Llyn Stwlan
This is the top lake [1] of Ffestiniog Pumped Storage Scheme. The bottom lake and the power station [2] can be seen at the bottom of the mountain. Taken from the south ridge leading up Moelwyn Mawr [4].
1. Llyn Stwlan
The top reservoir of Ffestiniog Pumped Storage Scheme, which is held in place by Stwlan Dam, a highly visible local landmark (when it's not foggy).
2. Ffestiniog Power Station
Hydro-Electric based Power Station. The upper reservoir of the scheme is located high up on the slopes of Moelwyn Mawr.
3. Stwlan Dam
Large concrete Dam constructed in the 1960s to hold back Llyn Stwlan which is the top reservoir for Ffestiniog Power Station.
4. Moelwyn Mawr :: SH6544
At 770m above Sea Level Moelwyn Mawr is the highest peak in the Moelwyn Range. Mawr is Welsh for Large.
