Garrison Locks (5 locks)


Travelling north between Bordesley Junction and Salford Junction the flight of five Garrison Locks provides a fall of 34ft 5in (103 metres). They are numbered 59 to 63 (Grand Union), but are often referred to as Garrison Locks 1 to 5 from the top lock.

Camp Hill Locks (6 locks)


Navigating north to Bordesley Junction in Birmingham, the Camp Hill flight consists of six locks providing a fall of 41ft 8in (127 metres) in just under eight hundred metres. A recent canal diversion to allow road expansion resulted in Lock No 54 being demolished, and a new one built nearby.

The five lock flight raises the level by 42 feet.

The six lock Hanwell flight raises the level by 53 feet. The canal flight was built by William Jessop.
