HP Photosmart M417 - 2005
Enigmatic lady on a fairground ride, Bayside Fun Park.
Fairground art has been around since the earliest days of fairground rides. What started out as simple banners became ever more elaborate artwork. Also intricate painted carvings became popular in the Victorian era.
In the 20th century the focus returned more to painting, which was often complex and executed to high standards and more suited to modern faster and thrilling rides.
Later in the century more modern techniques were developed such as airbrush art which allowed for ever more colourful artwork to entice people onto fairground rides. See TA1866 : Fairground rides, Bayside Fun Park for the setting of this artwork
