Caring for Casualties

The number of wounded is staggering with approximately two million British and Commonwealth troops injured. Treatment on the Western Front was in forward dressing stations and hospitals in France. Patients evacuated to Britain were dispersed to military hospitals by train.

A small number of military hospitals existed pre-war to treat service personnel.
