Cricklade to Lechlade
SU1093
Cricklade is a Saxon town built at the crossing point of the river by the Roman Ermin Street between Salisbury and Cirencester. The Cricklade bypass crosses the river to the east of the town near the confluence with the River Key.

Upstream of the Thames Path footbridge the river is joined by the Ampney Brook. The Ampney Brook rises near Ampney Park to the east of Cirencester and flows south east.
Sand and gravel extraction is a feature that will be found throughout the river basin.

The footbridge at Inglesham marks the upstream limit of navigation. The river is joined by the River Coln rising in the Cotswolds near Brockhampton, Gloucestershire and the terminus of the Thames & Severn Canal.
