Requirement

Design, Propose, and Implement a new look for the Geograph Website. We've had the current one for a long time :)

Getting started...

Brief

• Consult with interested parties on what is needed (eg with Sponsors, contributors, power users, and visitors). The pain points, and issues that should be addressed with the update.
• Decide on the scope of the project. Cosmetic only / redesign features / new workflows etc, probably influenced by available resources.
• Formulate some design alternatives (eg through mockups and/or prototypes)
• Pick a final design (or possibly cherry pick from various mockups)
• Confirm infrastructure is available for the required changes. (ie that it's feasible!)
• Liaise with developers on required changes to back-end systems (and/or new features requiring creating)
• Implement the design - includes browser compatibility testing
• Iterative refinements following use "in the wild"

Notes

The Schools site has had a partial redesign - which could be used for inspiration.

There are various forum threads, with some resources such as possible mockups. Geograph also has some mockups available from external developers which could be consulted.
