Geo-Trips :: Around the Fens
Helpston
A drive from Alconbury, Sat, 27 Apr 2019 by David Howard
Another pre-Worboys straggler was waiting in Ailsworth, which turned out to be a repainted old effort which under the layers of paint appeared to have been made with standard lettering, although one was smaller than the others which was suspcious. You could see some of it under the paint which was coming off, and was clearly smooth underneath which corresponded with stick on type lettering, probably the earliest available from around wartime.
I continued my secondary mission to cover as much of the Peterborough area as possible as it is such a regularly used junction heading north, with another coming up in late June 2019.
Click the blue circles to see a photograph taken from that spot and read further information about the location. The blue lines indicate the direction of view. There is also a slideshow of this trip. ( )
