This path goes to the centre of the village via Elmwood Avenue. It used to go up alongside the field boundary across the left side of the image, but has been diverted. After the initial stile there are three shiny new kissing gates.

The Black Swan and Gascoigne Arms pubs in the centre of Barwick in Elmet. Between them is the 86ft high maypole, which dwarfs the stone war memorial beside it.
