A restored memorial in the Auld Kirkyard
Most of the Auld Kirkyard's old headstones, being made from soft sandstone, have been heavily weathered and are now difficult to read. A few have been restored, including this special one which commemorates Robert Aiken, the first patron of Robert Burns. This memorial has been restored twice, by the Ayr Burns Club in 1919, and the Burns Federation in 1960.
